Juneteenth in Nashville

Juneteenth in Nashville

What a joy to share that Common People will be performing on the National Museum of African American Music–sponsored stage at Nashville’s Juneteenth615 celebration, co-produced by Fellavision and the African American Cultural Alliance. Our set is scheduled just before the fireworks, and we will be there in full force with a strong team. Nabil has prepared a musical sketch to help the band begin learning the material ahead of our rehearsal on Thursday, June 18. The set will include “Middle Passage,” a new song written at our most recent camp, along with “Born a Champion,” “Be Love,” “Thula Sizwe / I Shall Be Released,” and another new song.

This is the reference audio that Nabil created for our band to prep for rehearsals.

Early next week, a team from Common People will be in San Francisco for a songwriting camp with our friends at Glide Memorial Church, along with other Bay Area musicians and artists. We are excited both for the new songs and deeper relationships that will come out of our time together. Stay tuned!
